About Key Detector & Transposer
Last updated: 15 October 2026
Key Detector & Transposer is an independent software studio, founded in 2026 and based in Canada, that builds tools for musicians and worship teams.
What we make
- A Chrome extension that finds the key, tempo and chords of any tab, transposes and slows down YouTube videos, shows chords over the video and prints chord charts, with practice tools such as a metronome and a tuner.
- A free web analyzer at keydetector.site: drop audio files and get key, Camelot code and BPM. No account, no ads, and your files never leave your browser.
- Available in English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.
How it is built
The detection engine is our own code and runs on your device. We measure it against public datasets and against our own test set of worship recordings, and we are open about what it can and cannot do. Audio is never uploaded: see the privacy policy for the few anonymous counts we do collect.
We use AI tools, including Claude, to help build, design and write the product.
Who is behind it
Key Detector & Transposer is founded and run by David Zambrano, a developer and musician, working independently.
How it is funded
The product is self-funded. The web analyzer is free; the Chrome extension has a generous free tier and an optional Pro plan with a 7-day free trial.
